Lodge Holidays Wern Newydd Farm
Nestling in 40 acres of valley and surrounded by Oak forest and set along side of a nationally important monument know as a Motte which is said to have been built by Norman invaders. Sometimes built near to, or on the sites of administrative center of the earlier welsh owners. They were generally surmounted by a wooden keep or tower with ditches and ramparts.
There is potential that earthwork or buried archaeological remains may exist within the Wern Newydd land ( Buried remains of buildings IE Kitchens, bake houses, stables and barns.) Mottes were sometimes built on earlier welsh courts or llys sites and the potential for remains existing is highly possible.
Wern Newydd is also home to an abundance of wild life on its small lakes and in and around the river which runs through the center of the land, there are walks through the forest with small areas set aside for a rest or just to take in the peace and quite.
The rear hairstreak butterfly is also at home breeding above in the 100 year old Cherry trees which grow above the black thorn were hairstreak lay their eggs.
The Farm also breeds rear breed pigs such as the Kune-kune from New Zealand, Essex saddleback and Gloucester old spot, and has two horses one of which is a Shire. The woods are also home to three Goats that live there year round. |
